Eulogy

Antonio was born in the small Spanish village of Herves, where he and his 8 siblings grew up during the 50’s and early 60’s. From a young age Antonio’s passion was singing, and with a love for Spanish folk songs, he could often be found singing at local fiestas.
In the late 60’s, when Antonio was just 15, his mother and father brought him, his brothers, and sisters to live in England with the hopes of a more prosperous life.
It was whilst living in England and on a night out with his brothers at the Spanish club in London, he met his future wife, Fatima.
A year after meeting they married and to the day of Antonio’s passing were just a week from celebrating 50 wonderful years together.

Antonio and Fatima have 2 children, Rebecca and Juan Carlos and 4 grandchildren, whom he loved very much, he was very proud of his family and their achievements. Antonio was a very funny man and loved to joke around with family and friends. There was nothing he enjoyed more than getting everyone together at home with food and wine and just enjoying simple things, with weekends often spent playing cards, Antonio would typically win and be very happy about it.

Juan would like me to share a funny personal story of his own.

Juan and Antonio were in the sitting room one afternoon, this was around the time Antonio decided to join the technology advances of the mobile phone, he actually hated to talk on the phone but.... he got himself a mobile phone anyway, his phone started to ring and he looks at Juan and asks " who is it" Juan looked to his papa and replied, I don't know, it is YOUR phone so answer it, he then replied with a puzzled look, oh alright then and it turned out to be one of his best friends Pepe, it goes without saying he didn't keep the mobile phone.

Rebecca would like to share one of her fondest memories of her Papa.

Rebecca was in Spain for the summer with her grandmother, playing on the patio with friends, and happened to look down the hill towards the bakers and saw her papa walking up the hill with a suitcase, she ran down and fell over and scrapped her knees, he picked her up and carried her to his mother's house, he had decided to come to get Rebecca as he and Fatima were missing Rebecca too much.

Fatima would like to share a moment that is special to her.

When she first met Antonio, it was through his brothers and her first impression of him was that she did not like him, because he looked too young for her, however she decided to get to know him and soon fell for his charm and natural singing talents and the rest is history.

Throughout Antonio’s illness, he remained his stubborn yet humorous self, and despite all the discomfort, he kept that sense of humour, and would always manage to make his family laugh. The one thing everyone will always remember Antonio for, is for being the life and soul of the party, along with his unique personality and heart of gold.

The family would like to thank everybody for joining us today to celebrate Antonio’s life.

He will be loved and remembered, always.
